What is a ACFT?
An ACFT Calculator scores all six events of the U.S. Army Combat Fitness Test, the 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand-Release Push-ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, and 2-Mile Run, against age- and sex-normalized performance standards, the same structure used on the official Army scorecard. Each event is worth 0 to 100 points, for a maximum combined score of 600.
The ACFT replaced the older Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) with a broader battery of events designed to better reflect combat-relevant physical demands: strength (deadlift), explosive power (power throw), muscular endurance (push-ups and plank), and combined speed/agility/load-carriage (sprint-drag-carry) alongside traditional cardiovascular endurance (2-mile run). Soldiers must score at least 60 points on every individual event to pass, a high total score cannot offset failing a single event.
This calculator applies a documented mathematical approximation of the Army's official scoring tables, since the real tables are extensive age/sex-banded lookup charts spanning eight age brackets. It closely follows the shape and difficulty of the published standards to give a realistic estimate, but soldiers should always confirm results against their official DA scorecard.
Why Use an ACFT Calculator?
Preparing for the ACFT means training six very different physical skills at once, and it's hard to know where you stand without running the numbers through the actual Army scoring curves. This calculator lets soldiers plug in their current deadlift max, throw distance, push-up count, sprint-drag-carry time, plank hold, and run time to see an instant scorecard, exactly the kind of feedback loop useful for identifying weak events before a real test.
It's especially useful for spotting the event dragging down an otherwise strong total score, since the pass/fail rule hinges on every single event clearing 60 points. Soldiers transitioning to the newer standard should also check the AFT Calculator for the test that has succeeded the ACFT.
Who Should Use This Calculator?
Active-duty soldiers preparing for a record ACFT can use this to track training progress event by event. ROTC cadets and prospective enlistees can get familiar with the scoring structure before their first official test. Fitness trainers and unit PT leaders can use it to help soldiers identify their weakest event and target training accordingly. Soldiers also curious about body composition standards should check the Army Body Fat Calculator, and those tracking raw strength progress may find the One Rep Max Calculator useful for deadlift training.
What Insights Does the ACFT Calculator Give You?
- Total ACFT Score, the sum of all six event scores out of a maximum 600 points, the headline number used for promotion points and school eligibility.
- Per-event scores (Deadlift, Power Throw, Push-ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, Run), each shown individually with color coding (green for 90+, blue for a pass at 60-89, red for a fail below 60), making it immediately clear which events need work.
- Pass Status, a clear pass/fail flag reflecting the Army's rule that every event must individually score at least 60 points, regardless of the total.
How to use this ACFT calculator
- Select your Sex (Male or Female), scoring standards differ by sex.
- Select your Age Group from the eight Army age brackets.
- Enter your 3-Rep Max Deadlift in pounds.
- Enter your Standing Power Throw distance in meters.
- Enter your Hand-Release Push-up count for the 2-minute event.
- Enter your Sprint-Drag-Carry time in seconds.
- Enter your Plank Hold time in seconds.
- Enter your 2-Mile Run time in seconds.
- Review the Total ACFT Score and each individual event score, checking that all six clear the 60-point passing threshold.

Formula & Methodology
Scoring approach: Each event is scored on a piecewise-linear approximation between three reference points, the minimum 0-point standard, the 60-point (passing) standard, and the 100-point (maximum) standard, derived from published Army performance benchmarks for a representative age/sex band, then adjusted slightly by age group. For "higher is better" events (deadlift, power throw, push-ups, plank), more output yields a higher score; for "lower is better" timed events (sprint-drag-carry, run), a faster time yields a higher score. Worked example: A 24-year-old male soldier deadlifts 220 lbs, throws 8m, does 40 push-ups, completes the sprint-drag-carry in 140 seconds, planks for 120 seconds, and runs 2 miles in 15:30 (930 seconds). 1. Each event score is interpolated against that event's age/sex-adjusted 0/60/100-point benchmarks. 2. Scores are summed across all six events for the Total ACFT Score out of 600. 3. If every individual event scores 60 or above, the overall result is a PASS. Assumptions and limitations: - Uses an approximation of the official Army ACFT scoring tables, not the verbatim published lookup values, treat results as a close estimate for training purposes. - Age adjustment applies a uniform easing factor per age band rather than the exact per-event age curve used in the official tables. - Always confirm final scores against your official DA scorecard for record, promotion point, or school eligibility purposes.
